How to download Threads videos as MP4
Copy a public Threads video post link, paste it into ThreadsDL and load its attachments. Select Download video to save the available MP4 file. No Threads account or extra app is required.
Open downloaderA successful video download ends with a playable file, not merely a moving preview. This walkthrough follows one attachment from the post address to a saved MP4, then checks picture, sound and destination. For several videos, repeat the same verification before using the batch button so you know which stage actually succeeded.
Before you begin
- A public post containing the relevant media and its complete link.
- A browser with file-download permission, a stable connection and enough free storage.
- Permission for the intended use; keep the original post address with your saved files.
Step-by-step walkthrough
Step 1: Open the downloader and prepare a small test
Open ThreadsDL in a regular browser tab. The current home page also accepts other video platforms, but this walkthrough uses the Threads post field and its image/video previews. Start with one public post and enough storage for one file before attempting a whole carousel.

Keep the page open through parsing and saving. The first Download button requests the post’s attachments; it does not mean a file has reached your device. A result list is the sign that parsing worked. If it never appears, investigate the link or post accessibility before looking for a missing file.
Step 2: Paste the complete post address
Open the specific post in Threads and copy its link from sharing or the browser address bar. Paste the entire HTTPS address into the field. A typical post link contains /post/ and a post code; a profile stops at the username. Keep the post code intact.

Compare the address with the screenshot, using your own post rather than the example. Sharing parameters can remain. If the photo or video is inside a reply or quoted post, open that media’s own post first. Copying the surrounding conversation can select different attachments.
Step 3: Load and inspect the attachments
Press the Download button below the URL field once. Wait for the result summary and previews. Read the attachment count, then check the first item and its format. This is the analysis stage; a video poster or an image on this page is not evidence that a file has been saved.

Use Open original to compare the result with the requested post if the count is unexpected. A video thumbnail belongs to that video and should not be counted as an extra photo. If there is an error instead of previews, note the exact message and correct the input or source access before repeating the request.
Step 4: Choose the video you actually need
Scroll to the intended attachment and confirm its number and MP4 label. Use the player to verify that its content matches the post. In the sample, three separate previews belong to one post, so the second item’s button saves only that item rather than a stitched version of all three.

Press Download video beside that preview. Leave the tab open while the file is prepared. The play button starts a preview; it is a different control from the save button. If playback succeeds but saving fails, the post has already been resolved and the next check concerns the file transfer.
Step 5: Wait for the save and inspect the actual file
Watch the preparation status and wait for Downloaded. Then check the browser’s completed downloads and open the saved file. This second check matters: the site status describes its transfer, while the browser manages the final filename and destination on your device.

For a video, play the beginning and a later point; for an image, open it at a useful zoom. Record the filename before moving it. If the browser entry is incomplete or reports an error, do not treat a visible preview as a successful save. Retry the affected item after checking the connection and storage.
Step 6: Find the completed download before trying again
The screenshot shows the site’s Downloaded state. Next, open your browser’s downloads list and locate the corresponding filename. Open the entry or its file location. The page preview remains on the website; the downloaded file is the separate item managed by your browser.

If an entry exists, check its status and size before repeating the download. If you moved the file, its old history entry may not locate it anymore. Search your chosen destination using the post code. Finding the file in storage and adding it to Photos or Gallery can be separate operations.
Copy the post link, not the profile
Open the specific post before copying its address. A profile URL or a screenshot cannot identify the video attachment. ThreadsDL accepts public post links using threads.com and threads.net and ignores tracking parameters in the link. If a post contains several videos, check each preview before downloading.

Save one video or the whole carousel
After parsing, every video has its own download button. Download all saves attachments one after another as separate files; it does not create a ZIP. Keep the tab open until the downloads finish. Larger files take longer and require enough device storage. Your browser may ask whether to allow several downloads.

Understand audio, resolution and watermarks
Video downloads use the available progressive MP4 file, including its audio when that file has an audio track. ThreadsDL does not convert videos to MP3, increase resolution or remove existing watermarks. The visible preview reports decoded dimensions when available. These can differ from metadata returned by Threads.

Find the file on desktop or mobile
Check the browser’s downloads list first. On a phone, a download can appear in the file manager rather than the photo library; use the device’s sharing or saving options to move it if needed. If no file appears, check browser download permissions and try downloading one item at a time.

Before reposting a saved video
Keep the original post link as a source reference. Saving a public video does not transfer the creator’s rights. Use your own video or obtain permission before republishing. If the download fails, use the troubleshooting guide rather than supplying account credentials.
How to confirm the result
- The file opens locally and matches the selected attachment.
- Its filename and extension identify the post and MP4 item.
- You have checked sound, dimensions and the intended destination.
Questions about this workflow
Can I save only the second video?
Yes. Match attachment number 2 and use its own button. Download all requests every listed item, so an individual save is the clearer option when you need only one.
Does playing the preview save the video?
No. Playback reads media for viewing; the adjacent download button starts file preparation. Confirm the completed browser entry and open that file before considering the task finished.
Will another download improve its quality?
Not by itself. Saving the same available version again preserves the same dimensions. Inspect the file and the documented sample; an unavailable upload original cannot be reconstructed by repeating the request.
